On Thursday, September 26, the boldest and most innovative retail concepts of 2019 were awarded during the 13th Grand Prix Commerce Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield grand finale. Four concepts won over the jury, chaired by Mercedes Erra, co-founder of BETC Paris and Executive President of Havas Worldwide.

Created in 2007, the Grand Prix Commerce Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield fosters innovation in retail by offering promising new concepts the opportunity to develop within the Group’s shopping destinations in France. 37 startups have already been awarded, including Lunettes pour tous, Tediber, Persillé, Bloomizon, Laboté, Glaces Glazed, Faguo, Jimmy Fairly, Marlette, Canard Street, and the winners of the 2018 edition: Mersea, Freddy’s BBQ, BMK Paris-Bamako and Les Raffineurs.

Not three, but four original concepts have been awarded this year! They will receive a global grant of €1,500,000 to finance their opening in a Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield shopping centre.




The Grand Prix Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield was attributed to two concepts: SmÄak Natural Food and CAVAL. This prize rewards a proven retail concept ready to take that next step and open a store in a shopping centre. SmÄak Natural Food and CAVAL both receive a €500,000 grant.

 


SMÄAK NATURAL FOOD is a “fast-casual with a Scandinavian twist” concept created in 2017 by two gastronomy and northern culture lovers. The Prix Boutique was attributed to Fédération Française de l’Apéritif and Waekura. The winners each receive a €250,000 endowment to finance their lease in a Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield shopping centre.
