Vélizy 2 : Customer experience enhanced with exciting dining and leisure area
An iconic shopping centre west of Paris, Vélizy 2 has been a model of urban development since its creation in 1972. Mindful of meeting customers’ changing expectations, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is opening a new chapter in the centre’s history by offering visitors an enhanced experience through the creation of a new exciting space dedicated to dining and leisure.
Novel experiences in an exceptional setting
Vélizy 2 showcases a strong architectural identity, with an impressive glass sphere that lights up at night – an emblematic new monument designed by the architecture firm L35. This totem houses the brand new cinema complex: an 18-screen UGC Ciné Cité cinema featuring the latest technologies for a 100% immersive experience, as well as a virtual reality (VR) arcade – “Mind Out”.
The new dining space “Les Tables de Vélizy” – designed by Saguez & Partners – features 23 food offerings, including 15 new restaurants and 8 kiosks preparing cuisines from all of the world. At the cutting edge of culinary trends, this innovative dining area meets all consumption modes, thanks to partnerships with Uber Eats and Deliveroo, for example. With easy access for food delivery services, improved signage and better communication, Vélizy 2 is the first omnichannel dining platform in a shopping centre in Europe. In addition to hosting unique food & cinema events all year long, “Les Tables de Vélizy” innovates and takes a stand for sustainable development by partnering with the startup Too Good To Go.
In line with the Group’s CSR strategy, the centre’s surroundings have been rethought to promote soft mobility, including the creation of a “greenway” for pedestrians and cyclists to reach the tramway station and the new entrance of Vélizy 2.
A key economic actor for the region
After two years of construction works and a global investment of €140M, Vélizy 2 now offers 20,000 sqm of additional retail space. Through thisinnovative concept, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield aims to provide the inhabitants of the surrounding areas with a unique meeting place for families, friends and co-workers to share memorable experiences.
