Westfield Stories, a short film festival in partnership with Vice

#Group News
In France, Westfield launches Westfield Stories, a short film festival in partnership with Vice. We’ve opened the doors of Westfield shopping centres to those emerging on the French cinema scene.

Six Westfield shopping centres in France - Westfield Carré Sénart, Westfield Les 4 Temps, Westfield Forum des Halles, Westfield Parly 2, Westfield Rosny 2 and Westfield Vélizy 2 - and the Vice Media Group have given six filmmakers carte-blanche to capture stories inspired by our destinations, places full of life and interaction. From October 15 to December 10, these six young talents will be given a platform for their entries to be shared with a broad audience.

Anne-Sophie Sancerre, COO France of Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, says: "With the recent rebranding of our Parisian centres under the Westfield banner, we wanted to celebrate these new identities through a project that mirrors the creativity of young French film talent and the unique identities of our six Parisian centres, each of which is the subject of a short film as part of the Westfield Stories Festival. The directors' views expressed in these works allow everyone to discover their uniqueness through the prism of the 7th art, a vector of links and sharing between generations, just like our centres."

Everyday shopping centre experiences, coupled with imagination and a sense of reverie, shine through this collection of short films. Each of the filmmakers involved in this festival offers a different perspective on a unique moment experienced at a Westfield centre. Here’s what we can expect:

  • Suit Up, directed by Sarah Jacquier (Storm Prod),
    featuring Westfield Les 4 Temps

  • Chariot, directed by Lucie Bourdeu (Hier Soir TV),
    filmed at Westfield Rosny 2

  • Bienvenue chez vous, directed by Tony Vernagallo (Partizan et 137 BLVD),
    set against Westfield Parly 2

  • Job d’été, directed by Ornella Pacchioni (Partizan et 137 BLVD),
taking place at Westfield Carré Sénart

  • Coup de flou, directed by Lenny Grosman (Dissidence),
a story of Westfield Forum des Halles

  • Paraître(s), directed by Adrien Privat (Noise Gate Circus),
    filmed at Westfield Vélizy 2

At the end of this period, a jury composed of entertainment professionals, chaired by the French actress, scriptwriter and director Géraldine Nakache, will elect the best short film. The Audience Award will also be awarded via an online voting platform hosted by VICE France, open to the public from November 26 to December 8. The initiative will be promoted at movie theatres and run in parallel with a campaign on Social Media (TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat).

As the world's leading brand for shopping, leisure, dining and entertainment, and in line with the Group’s purpose Reinvent Being Together, Westfield's destinations are turning into veritable places of shared experiences and life milestones. This was recently illustrated by an exclusive event: the Livestream concert by Lady Gaga, previewing tracks from the new album Love For Sale, broadcast simultaneously in 21 Westfield centres across 10 countries and live on the live.westfield.com platform.
