A hyper-connected destination

Designed by the architecture firm Cro&Co with the support of URW’s Concept Studio, work began on the extension in 2020, capitalising on the construction of the new transport hub under the CNIT building. The extension of RER E train line to the west of the Paris region makes Westfield CNIT another gateway to the La Défense district, with almost 70,000 commuters a day expected to pass through the station.

"The extension of Westfield CNIT illustrates the Group's strategy of adapting to urban infrastructure and increasing the density of our assets without land artificialisation," said Bruno Donjon de Saint Martin, Chief Operating Officer Southern Europe for URW. "The extension of RER E into the heart of the first business district in Europe is an expression of the dynamism of La Défense. URW is supporting the development of this area by reinforcing the offer in a hyper-connected asset that already boasts an unrivalled mix, and by contributing to the area's environmental transition."

Over 90% of visitors to Westfield CNIT today use sustainable modes of transport. This percentage is now set to increase thanks to the site's connection to more than 28 public transport lines.

In step with URW's "Better Places" sustainability roadmap, the project has received BREEAM In-Use "Excellent" certification. Thanks to its architecture, the natural thermal regulation of the subterranean space guarantees the comfort of visitors without the need for heating or air conditioning. The extension project also makes a positive contribution to the economy of the local area with the creation of more than 300 jobs.

With the new expansion, Westfield CNIT – joining the Westfield family – now brings together almost 37,400 m2 of retail space across 3 levels, a Hilton hotel, the CNIT Forest convention centre (a Viparis venue refurbished in October 2023), ample office spaces, and schools, demonstrating URW's expertise in mixed-use projects.

Among new concepts now available at Level -2, visitors can find brands such as Aroma-Zone and Waterdrop; gourmet dining from Yann Couvreur Café, Alain Ducasse and Pierre Hermé; day-to-day services with Carrefour City, Mon Panier d'Asie and Optical Factory; plus Rituals, ETAM, Kiko and Foot Locker for ready-to-wear and beauty. KFC, Caravana and Bo Bun House offer a range of dining options amplified by kiosks for quick breaks including Starbucks, Crêperie Elo, Pokawa and Lunicco.
